About Us

Joel

I was born and raised in the Piney Woods of East Texas, where cold beer wasn’t exactly part of the church potluck. But somewhere between a Religion degree from East Texas Baptist University and a road trip with the right group of friends, I found myself hooked: not just on craft beer, but on the community, creativity, and stories that come with it.

Since then, I’ve visited over 300 breweries around the world. That includes breweries in 21 U.S. states (plus Washington, D.C.) and five countries: CanadaIrelandEnglandCosta Rica, and of course, the U.S.

These days, I don’t drink quite as much as I used to, but my appreciation for a well-made pint hasn’t faded. ETBrews is where I share more than tasting notes. It’s a place for road trips, campfire meals, live music, late-night conversations, and all the weird, wonderful stops in between.

I’m a dad, a camper, a storyteller, and a lifelong collector of meaningful experiences. If my daughter Ireland grows up to be a brewer, I won’t be mad about it.

I’m not a beer expert. I just believe in living a full life, appreciating what’s in front of me, and raising a glass to the people and places that make it all worthwhile.

Jeffery - a.k.a. "Chappy"

When I started this blog, I was single, adventurous, and on a mission to track down every new craft brew I could find. Life was all beer fests and brew flights.

These days I'm happily married, raising two amazing kids in Marshall, Texas, and still chasing great beer, just with a car seat in the back and a bedtime routine to keep.

The passion hasn’t faded. If anything, it’s deepened. Now it’s less about the next big hype release and more about the story behind the pour—who brewed it, where it came from, and how it fits into this life I’m building.

Whether you’re here for honest reviews, brewery stories, or just curious what a hoppy life looks like after settling down, you’re in the right place. I’m glad you’re here.
